Act 3: The Netherbrain

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

    The Netherbrain

  1. It's been a long journey, but a fun one! Hope you're ready to put an end to it. This is your last chance to grab Gale if you want to skip the final boss. Hop on the morphic pool boat when ready to go!
  2. Climb up the cragged rock right next to where you start. Head west across the bridge, you'll see some walking brain things. Follow them as they turn north.
  3. When you get to this point, sneak and keep heading north. You can avoid the ambush fight, if you just sneak past it and keep going.
  4. Keep heading north and curve west, with some effort you'll meet the big brain finally! The rolls don't really matter, if you're going to fight the brain it will lower it's health a little, but it probably won't be the decision maker in you winning.
  5. Follow the emperor. IF you brought Lae'zel, you have to side against the emperor or she'll turn on you. IF you brought Gale, it doesn't really matter what you do. You can also become a mindflayer yourself, but I don't really like it. It messes up your stats and skills I think.
  6. Break Orpheus out with the Orphic Hammer like we did to Hope. Go through the portal when ready.
  7. You'll run into Kith'rak Voss. He'll be easy to convince since you have Orpheus with you. In thet house you'll be asked to give a speech.Afterwards, I had to redo buffs, mine were gone. Koll the Red (little monster guy on the counter) is a vendor if you need anything. I bought the potion of angelic slumbers and cloud giant potion just in case. If somehow Astarion dies he'll need another. If you're planning to fight, the potions will give you a full rest when we get to the brain.
  8. Head out to the east then north up the stairs. Before heading into the courtyard, here's how we're going to skip all of this.Go into turn based mode. Cast haste on Astarion with Lae'zel/Gale, cast greater invisibility on Astarion with MC bard. Now he should have an insane amount of movement and be completely invisible. Just run straight east through the courtyard with Astarion ONLY.I just kept it turn based mode to make it less stressful. With dashes, I crossed the entire courtyard in one turn. This leaves us 9 turns to move our way up the next part (which in itself should only take 1 or 2 turns).I like to head up there right path as there's no locked doors and Astarion isn't my sleight of hand guy. He can easily jump up the broken platforms though.
  9. Once you enter this room, you can interact with the brain stem. Convince Gale to do what he has to do, and you're done! Congrats on the dice and trophy!
  10. Netherbrain Strategy If you're in it for the fight, I'll list the strategy that worked for me.
    • Use elixir of psychic resistance on Lae'zel, MC, and Shadowheart
    • Cast twin haste and spirit guardians before using the brain stem
    • Use the call forth allies for everyone's action and summon everything in the center of the map
    • This helps distract everything in the middle from attacking you
    • Split up: Lae'zel and Astarion go left, Shadowheart and MC go right
    • Run up the respective paths while killing all the mindflayers
    • When you get to the top, have Orpheus use the Karsik skill on the netherbrain to start subduing it
    • Play defense while waiting a turn by Orpheus
    • On Orpheus' next turn a portal will open up
    • Go inside immediately and hit the brain with everything you have
    • He has a skill where he's immune to the first type of damage he takes on the previous turn or something
    • You should be able to kill him in 1 turn if Astarion has haste and action surge
    • If not, you should be able to finish him off on round 2
    • Don't stand on any of the red blinking platforms, they will be destroyed and you'll fall to your death
Congrats! Now you've beat the netherbrain and got your dice/trophy!
