Act 1: Githyanki Creche
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
- There's really not much to do here, and no consequences for taking out the gith for xp. We are going to clear it out room by room like we did the goblin camp. Remember to turn off lights and shut doors before fighting, or it turns into an all out brawl that you'll probably lose.
- We can head to open the waypoint and shop at the merchant before fighting. Shut the door to the training room in the north, so they don't join in any fights til you're ready.
- Waypoint is to the east, and merchant is in the SE room (the rocky room) Really all you need is the Gloves of Dexterity for Lae'zel. We'll leave this room alive for now, so we can sell all the gith armor and weapons we pick up. You can also respec Lae'zel. Give her same everything, except put her dexterity at 8 and put the extra points in wisdom, this way she'll be more resistant to CC spells.
- Head back out into the hall (close the door behind you). Open the NE door to see a quick scene and a bunch of gith will run out and leave. It's safer to do this before you kill. I've had it happen once where they came out and saw the corpse and aggro'd me. It doesn't usually happen, but why take a chance on HM?
- Back in the hall with the door closed, kill this lone guard (wait for the patrol to leave). Then kill the patrol when it comes back. There are 2 patrols, so try to get them both (not at the same time if possible). I usually start the fight by hitting them with Astarion. My MC attacks first in most fights already, so having him go first doesn't really give any advantage.
- Once those are dead, you can head to the west and kill the lone soldier there. Then kill the ones in the center of the room. Now that those guys are all dead, it's much less likely any one fight will break out into an all out brawl, since there's no connecting enemies in the center!
- Start in the infirmary in the SW room. I usually go in, to the left to the bedroom. Attack the people there and then let the others come into the room (wasting a turn or 2 on movement). Make sure you're looting them all, the decorated and other chests. Their armor and weapons sell for a good price and you need to make up some of that money we've been spending!
- Head west into the next room and kill the single gith there. SAVE 1 OF THE PARASITES. After Lae'zel uses the machine she'll have some debuff that you can't remove until she uses a parasite. So keep 1 parasite for her. I just got her cull the weak with 2. You can use magic missle + cull the weak to take out a few weak guys in bigger fights.Loot the parasites and let Lae'zel use the machine. Now that that's over, you're free to go back to wilderness/underdark anytime you want. You can always warp there and then warp back to get a free full heal (no spell slots back though). That makes clearing the rest of this without resting pretty easy.
- Go into the NW room. I find this fight super annoying, so the simplest way is to just shoot the 1 guy and then run into the hallway. Keep 3 people in the hallway, have MC shoot him, then move MC into hallway. Make those 3 run to you instead of dealing with the terrain. Takes a little longer, but less stressful.Afterwards, you can go in and get the egg. Just take Astarion, equip the acid proof boots you just picked up. Head to the top where the one gith was watching over the egg, then misty step to the egg.
- With the west side cleared out, let's head to the S, the entrance room. I put the MC up the ladder and then have Astarion start the fight. Let MC kill the guy up top while the other 3 focus on the bottom.
- Reminder, you can warp back to wilderness and then back to here to get your health refilled for free. Head N into the classroom. I would focus down Sa'varsh, since he has some annoying mind meld thing. Either way, it shouldn't be too difficult.
- Head to the NE room to have a mini boss fight. Try to spread out, this gith likes to case some conal disarm ability which is annoying.
- Use the red thing you get from the other gith to open the door. Head to Inquisitors room, but only with the MC and Astarion. We're not here to fight, just get a couple things first.
- Have Astarion talk to Raider Kyrr'a'ath from the far side to get him to look east. This lets you steal the Gloves of Belligerent Skies from the chest for Shadowheart (best in slot).
- Have Astarion go to the west room. Punch the one statue if your athetics check fails to get it to move. Turn them both so that the door opens. Head on in.
- Shoot the crystals, use turn based mode to disarm the traps before they blow you off the edge. Use the dawnmasters crest to get the Blood of Lathander without blowing the place up (make sure it's in Astarions inventory)
- Warp back to the Creche Y'llek waypoint to meet up with everyone. I use Blood of Lathander on Shadowheart for most the game. There are a few fights where I switch back to Phalar Aluve for magic missle synergy, but I'll mention when I do.
- Head to the SE room to clear out the merchant room. There are 2 gith to the SE of the merchant as well.
- Inquisitor we can kind of cheese. I mentioned earlier about leaving someone behind to just rez you if you die. I would just leave Shadowheart in camp, twin haste MC and Astarion, and let them kill as many guys as they can in the Inquisitors room before they die. Then rez and go again. Inquisitor has a really annoying legendary action where he keeps spawning swords and the longer the fight goes on, the more overwhelmed you get. Just easier to cheese him.
- Talk to Vlaakith, make sure to agree to do what she wants or it's instant game over. Go inside, talk to guardian and come back out. Loot everything and we are done here!
