Exploring Dodongo's Cavern Area

Location: Hyrule Field

    Heading to the Castle

  1. Now that we've dealt with the tree, we can leave the forest! The exit is in the west, go through the giant log.
  2. Item - Fairy OcarinaSaria will stop you and give you a pep talk and a Fairy Ocarina! It's no Ocarina (of Time), but it will suffice for kid Link. Head through the next log.
  3. Gold Skulltulla - 4/100Wait until night time, then go back into Kokiri Forest. Head up to where we got the sword, but go behind the house to the right instead of crawling through the hole. Behind the house is the gold skulltulla. You can reach the token by doing a backflip or dive attack.
  4. Gold Skulltulla - 5/100Go back out to Hyrule Field and run north to the castle (can only enter during daytime). The door on the first screen takes you to a room full of pots. You can go in and out making money, you might want to so you can play the minigames coming up to get some upgrades. There is also a golden skulltulla in the boxes in the back. You roll into them to destroy them.
  5. Item - Bullet Bag (40)Head to the next screen into the market. Find the building with the bullseye and arrow to get to the shooting gallery. If you hit all 10, you'll get a bullet bag, you can carry more ammo for your slingshot! If you hit 8, you get a free game, so at least try to hit 8 so you don't run out of money. If you do, just head back to the pots.
  6. Find the lady with the blue dress 10 feet in front of the potion shop talking about a dog. Then head out towards Hyrule Castle where you can wait for night time. You can walk forward a bit to ge the conversation with the owl out of the way while you wait.
  7. Hearts - 4.25/20Go back into the market at night time. You can find the ladies white dog near the entrance (it might be running around). Talk to it and take it to the back alley just to the right of the main entrance. Go into the first door and return the dog for a piece of heart! Just keep bringing her white dogs until it's the right one, not sure if there's a way to differentiate them.
  8. Gold Skulltulla - 6/100Head back to the Hyrule Castle area. The tree right in front of you, roll into it. A golden skulltulla will fall out of it.
  9. Climb up the nearby vine. You can talk to Malon if you want, remember this spot, we'll be back to talk to her again. We want to get to the castle without being caught by the guards. So follow the path, jump off the middle of the bridge, veer left inbetween the guards up the hill, head straight for the wall in the back that you can climb, jump in the water and follow the stream around. You will come across a guy that looks like Mario (this was dope to see in the 90's) sleeping.Talk to him, then head back to Malon. You can get caught by the guards and they will toss you right next to her.
  10. Item - Weird EggTalk to Malon again, she'll give you a weird egg. You have to wait until morning and it will hatch into a chicken.
  11. Go back to Talon and use the chicken on him to get him to wake up. Then you can push the boxes to make a way to jump across the water to the castle wall and crawl through.
  12. For this section, just stay out of view of the guards and keep moving forward. There's some rupees and stuff, but we already know how to get infinite rupees, so don't waste your time. Try not to get caught or you have to do it all over again.
  13. Item - Zelda's LetterOnce you're through you'll meet the princess! Talk to her and get a lore dump. At the end she'll give you a letter.
  14. Song - Zelda's LullabyTalk to Impa to get some more info and a song. She will take you out to Hyrule Field. Now we can do some collecting before the next dungeon!
  15. Off to Lon Lon Ranch

  16. When you look slightly southwest, you should see another village like structure. That's Lon Lon Ranch and where we're heading next, so run on over there.
  17. Item - Empty Bottle #1Go into the building on the left when you enter. There should be Talon and a bunch of chickens. This mini game kind of sucks, but it's not too bad. He will throw up 3 super cuccoo's and you have to find them in the middle of all the others. Try to keep your eye on at least 1 or 2 of them so you can grab them. In general, I just try to throw all the chickens I pick up into the same corner, so I can sort of keep track of what I already checked. When you win you'll get the first empty bottle!
  18. Gold Skulltulla - 7/100Go out of the house and keep heading towards the ranch. Turn left as soon as you pass the house to see a tree. Roll into it to make the gold skulltulla fall out.
  19. Hearts - 4.5/20Go to the southwest corner of the ranch into the stone building to find a box "puzzle". Pull the box near the cow towards the door, then pull the corner box into it's spot. This will allow access to a crawlspace that leads to another piece of heart!
  20. Song - Epona's SongNow go to the middle of the fenced in area to find Malon. Talk to her and then pull out your ocarina to learn Epona's Song. You might have to talk to her a couple of times until she mentions singing together.
  21. Gold Skulltulla - 8/100Go back to Hyrule Field and wait for night, then come back into the ranch. There is a golden skulltulla on the wooden part of the ranch fence. Circle the outside of the fence, it's not on the inside part.
  22. Exploring the Lost Woods

  23. Go back to Kokiri Forest and turn left. Climb up the ridge and vines to another giant log exit. This leads to the Lost Woods. The music gets louder when you're standing near a log that doesn't take you back to the start.
  24. Item - Deku Seeds Bullet Bag (50)Go to the right (east) log. Shoot the target in the center 3 times (get 100 points). The deku scrub will come out and give you the largets Deku Seeds Bullet Bag! Once you shoot 100 once, just don't move the cursor. It's an old game, so there's no aim swaying or whatever.
  25. Go left (north), right (east), left (north), straight (north), left (west), right (north).
  26. You'll arrive at the Sacred Forest Meadow. You'll have to fight a wolf mini boss. He's pretty easy, stabbing works well (target lock, hold towards and attack). That will lower the gate.
  27. Head through and follow the path to the right. Eventually you'll come out north to some stairs. Turn back around to find a ladder leading above where you just were. you'll see a closed off pit with another ladder. If you go down there and into the hole there's some fairies. You can get one in your bottle if you want. Get rid of the milk. The fairy will revive you if you accidentally die.
  28. Song - Saria's SongNow go back up, and go up the stairs to find Saria. She will teach you Saria's Song. Now go back to the Lost Woods. Go straight (south) to be back in Kokiri Forest. Re-enter the Lost Woods.
  29. Hearts - 4.75/20Go to the right (east) again. This time go down the ladder, stand on the stump and pull out your ocarina. You'll have to play a simon says mini game. Win it 3 times to get a piece of heart!
  30. Hearts - 5/20Go back up the ladder and go straight (west), straight (west). You'll find the skull kid from Majora's Mask on another log. Hop up and pull out your ocarina again. Play Saria's Song and you'll get a piece of heart! This should add an extra heart to your health now.
  31. Item - Deku Sticks (20)Take the south exit into a room with some trees. At the far end of the bottom, you can reflect the deku nut and get him to get an upgrade to deku stick carrying capacity for 40 rupees. Now leave the forest and go back to Hyrule Field.
  32. Kakariko Village

  33. Go to the northeast corner, to find a staircase to Kakariko Village. You have to cross a bridge to the east of Hyrule Castle area. Wait until night time to go in.
  34. Gold Skulltulla - 9/100Go straight and take the first right up some stairs past a house. Then go right again behind the house. You'll find the golden skulltulla on the side of the house.
  35. Gold Skulltulla - 10/100Just past the previous house, is a house under construction. Find the stairs up to there and there is another golden skulltulla on the partially build house.
  36. Gold Skulltulla - 11/100Go to the north side of the village to find the tall skinny tower. Use your slingshot to look up and shoot the golden skulltula at the top of the ladder.
  37. Exit southeast to the graveyard (still nighttime)
  38. Hearts - 5.25/20Talk to Dampe to get him to dig on the dirt patches. This is random and annoying. Eventually he'll dig up a piece of heart.
  39. Go to the east side of the graveyard to find a triforce symbol on the ground near a large grave stone. Stand on the triforce and play Zelda's Lullaby to blow it up, and then go in the hole.
  40. Song - Sun's SongKill all the bats in the first room. Run past the zombies in the 2nd, if they freeze you just keep running when you unfreeze, try to avoid them though. In the next room, read the tablet with the music on it. Then learn the Sun's Song and leave.
  41. Hearts - 5.5/20Back in the Graveyard, turn it to night again with the Sun's Song. The 2nd row of tombstones, the 4th from the right if you pull it back has a hole under it. Go down and kill the zombie (Sun's Song stuns it a bit). Play the Sun's Song on the platform and a chest with a piece of heart will appear.
  42. Item - Hylian ShieldIn the first row of tombstones, there's a hole underneath the tombstone with the plants in front of it. Go down there to find a shield upgrade (immmune to fire damage).
  43. Item - Empty Bottle #2Turn it to daytime with the Sun's Song and talk to the woman across from the graveyard entrance. She will mention her cuccoo's ran away. Time to find some chickens! Cuccoo #1 - Right next to the penCuccoo #2 - Near the entrance of the villageCuccoo #3 - Near the exit to Death Mountain in the northCuccoo #4 - Across from the construction site, but you have to float across using another cuccooCuccoo #5 - You need a cuccoo to help you get to the other side of the potion shop. Float and then throw him at the last second so that link can grab the ledge and climb over.Cuccoo #6 - Before going back, climb up the ladder on that side of the fence to find another cuccoo.Cuccoo #7 - On the left side of the village when you enter, there's a box in front of a house. 45. Up Death Mountain

  46. Head to the gate on the north side of the village and show the guard Zelda's Letter to open the gate to Death Mountain.
